Trainee as assistantfor office management

In September 2021, I started my apprenticeship at RST Rostock System-Technik as an office management assistant. Previously, I studied electrical engineering at the University of Rostock, but quickly realized that I would prefer to change my direction to a commercial one.   

With RST I have found a company that on the one hand meets my interest in electrical engineering and at the same time fulfils my desire to receive a good commercial education. 

I'm currently working in the secretariat, where I'm learning how to organize business trips, write internal and external e-mails and take minutes of meetings, among others.  

Starting my training in the secretariat has clear advantages: This is where all the important office management processes come together, giving you a good overview before you move on to the individual departments. 

To strengthen the team spirit between us apprentices, there are so-called "apprentice tasks" at RST. For example, we are jointly responsible for supplying employees with disinfectant and masks during the Corona pandemic, distributing office supplies, and stocking the meeting rooms with water and soft drinks. These tasks are a highlight for me, as it's always fun to move around the building together with the other apprentices.  

What I particularly like about RST is that even as an apprentice, you are shown a lot of appreciation and trust by all your colleagues. I was involved in all work processes right from the start and was allowed to provide support everywhere. Thus, I immediately felt like a full team member. 

In the future, I'm looking forward to RST's numerous employee events, such as the "legendary" summer and Christmas parties! In my time here so far, I've already been able to experience a few events: A dinner together at CarLo 615, the "Goodbye- & Hello-Brunch" from the HR department as well as "Bratwurst & Glühwein to-go" - all corona compliant of course. These were all great experiences that brought us colleagues further together.  

And in my first summer as an RST employee, I finally get to enjoy another highlight: Going to the beach after work to spend the evening at the sea!
